Researchers Estimate Size of Largest Known Star Through Sharpest Optical Image Ever Captured

R136a1, a massive star with a mass around 150 or 200 times the Sun, has been observed in great detail, along with other stars in the cluster. The images from Gemini South's Zorro instrument have provided scientists with the clearest images of the star so far, which suggest it may not be as massive as previously thought.
