US senators on Wednesday proposed a bill to authorise the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to be the default regulator for cryptocurrencies. The legislation could allow the CFTC to regulate cryptocurrencies, and is the latest attempt by the US Congress to formulate ideas on how to oversee a multibillion-dollar industry amid the global crypto meltdown.
