The digital euro would offer users a choice when making payments but would not be a "Big Brother Project to control people, according to a senior EU official. While the European Central Bank has yet to decide if it will go ahead with introducing a digital euro, the EU is working on draft legislation that would give the digital euro a legal underpinning.
